Group Cooking Classes
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind experience with friends, a corporate event, or a fundraising activity, cooking classes are a terrific way to strengthen relationships while learning a new skill and having a great time. Most recently, I have taught group classes with the Encinal Yacht club, Island Savoy Market, and a local grade school.
I am happy to teach classes at a venue of your choosing (whether it’s a home, office, or event space) or I can help you find a spot. I am also available to teach some classes from my home on a case-by-case basis. I can teach some of my classes for up to 20 people, but most are limited to an 8 person maximum (depending on the setting). If you’re interested in group cooking classes, let’s chat to discuss options and ideas.
Class format will vary based on the setting, number or participants, and age of participants. I try to make them as hands-on as possible, however!
Some favorite group classes include:
charcuterie boards and grazing boards
pasta-making (from 101 to more advanced)
sushi-making at home
cooking with beans (with a focus on Rancho Gordo products)
de-mystifying delicious tinned fish (an on-trend class!)
farmers’ market cooking (can include a farmers’ market excursion)
empanadas (Venezuelan style corn-based empanadas or Argentine)
Private Cooking Classes
Private cooking classes can be the perfect way to instill confidence in the kitchen and jump-start a curiosity about food. I teach private cooking classes from my home or on site at someone else’s home.
We can tailor sessions to any need, but some of my favorite private cooking classes include:
weeknight meal planning and prep
Japanese cooking at home
sushi-making
stock your freezer
baking (from baking 101 to more complicated recipes, like pie-making)
farmers’ market cooking (can include a farmers’ market excursion)
Classes with Kids
Kids love to cook! My kids’ classes tend to not involve the stove or direct heat, and instead focus on baking or no-cook recipes. We always discuss kitchen and food safety, as well as how to approach a recipe. I have worked with preschool and grade school students but am open to students of any age,
Class format will vary based on the setting, number or participants, and age of the children. I do try to make them as hands-on and engaging as possible, using all 5 senses to capture students’ attention.
Favorite cooking classes with kids include:
garden to table cooking
cookie decorating
sushi making
baking for beginners
